Greenville, Texas Outdoor Adventures

Greenville, Texas Visitor Guide:
Come play with us

Greenville is surrounded by some of Texas' best fishing lakes and just an hour away from camping in the piney woods. There's more outdoor fun with a swimming pool and a wealth of city parks, ball fields, and golf courses in our own backyard.

10 Outdoor Adventures in Greenville:

Go fishing
1.
Go fish. Whether you favor the old cane pole and bobber or go for the depth-finders and latest tackle, you'll enjoy wetting a hook at one of 6 sport-fishing lakes in the area. And if you're a tournament fisherman, it's pure heaven.

2. Tee up. Play a round of golf at several area courses. Need something on a smaller scale? There's miniature golf, too.

3. Go native. Wander through the tall grasses and wildflowers at Mathews Prairie Nature Preserve. This 100-acre native prairie has never been plowed. Native birds feast on the seedheads of grasses anchored as much as 100 feet deep in the soil.

4. Play. Slide, swing, and play in the sand. All ages find fun at Aunt Char's Kid Zone, our community-built creative playground.

5. Find hidden treasure. There are dozens of geocaches hidden within a 30-mile radius of Greenville. Get your GPS and go find them.

6. Spot a songbird. Get out your binoculars. The lakes, parks, meadows, and woods of northeast Texas boast 390 species of birds.

7. Ride a bike. There are several active cycle groups in the area. Join the hundreds of riders at the Fall OmniSYS Cotton Patch Classic Bike Rally & Race.

Enjoy an evening under the stars at area campgrounds
8.
Pitch your tent. Or park your RV to enjoy an evening under the stars at area campgrounds.

9. Smell the flowers. Stroll through the Harrison Public Library Literary Garden, the Master Gardeners Demonstration Garden, or the Kavanaugh Church Bible Garden. Don't miss the annual garden tour.

10. Enjoy the races. Both drag strip and oval track racing are available in the area for auto enthusiasts. Local tracks also hold MX and 4-wheeler competitions.

And a bonus adventure.
Get lost
. Wander through the giant cornfield maze each fall. Get in - and try to get out.

. . . Drop in any time!
