New Braunfels, Texas Activities & Attractions

New Braunfels, Texas
Activities & Attractions Guide

You're never short on things to do in New Braunfels, Texas.

Stop by museums dedicated to children, railroads, and local history. And for a real taste of Texas, visit Historic Gruene, a shopping and entertainment district in a restored turn-of-the-century cotton farming community. This National Register Property is home to antique shops, craft stores, wineries, restaurants, and the oldest dance hall in Texas.

It's not a vacation unless you come home with more stuff than you left with, and you'll be happy to know that New Braunfels can satisfy even the most voracious shopper. Explore the many specialty shops downtown and antique stores that have made us the "Antique capital of Texas." And say "Hello. Good Buy!" at New Braunfels Marketplace, where you'll find shopping, dining and a 12-screen state-of-the-art stadium seating movie theatre. There's something for everyone.

Water is important to every community, but in New Braunfels, it's a way of life. Two clear, clean rivers wind through town - the Comal and Guadalupe - and Canyon Lake is just minutes away. So, put on your swimsuit and go fishing, rafting, kayaking, tubing, or swimming.

Or spend a day at Schlitterbahn Waterpark Resort, one of the nations largest, featuring 65 acres of water slides, tube chutes, three uphill water coasters, a wave pool, children's play areas, resort rooms and lots of other ways to keep cool.

If you love the outdoors, you'll love New Braunfels. There are plenty of outside attractions to enjoy. Visit nearby Natural Bridge Caverns, the largest cavern in Texas, and Natural Bridge Wildlife Ranch, a 200-acre park with native Texas wildlife and exotic species. Tour lovely Landa Park on a miniature train or play the park's challenging 18-hole golf course.
