Boerne Texas
Surrounded by the beautiful Texas Hill Country and located just minutes from San Antonio, Boerne is a wonderful combination of old world charm and Texas hospitality. Stroll down Hauptstrasse (Main Street) and find that one-of-a-kind item from one of Boerne's antique shops, art galleries, trendy boutiques or gift shops. Take a break at one of the restaurants, cafes, coffee shops, bakeries, wine bars, or try the local brewery.
Did we say art? Boerne was featured as an emerging art town in Southwest Art Magazine. With galleries representing over 100 local and nationally known artists in all mediums, Boerne truly defines Fine Art. Plan to attend the Fall Festival of Art and Music in October and come back in April for the Annual Parade of Artists.
When was the last time you had a magical experience? Imagine a calm summer night on the town square. Lawn chairs are lined up and blankets cover the ground. The local booster club has hamburgers, sausage wraps and home-made ice cream for sale, with the money going to a good cause. The whole community is out and visitors are welcome.
Then as the breeze blows in, sounds from long ago resound around the square. What is that melody is it Heimwehmelodie or no it's the Borsicka-Polka played by the Boerne Village Band, "the oldest continually organized German Band in the world outside of Germany itself." Then the children start dancing. This is an experience you will remember, from a time when a community was a community, and you are invited to take part.
Boerne is rich in community and historic significance. Visitors come from around the world to enjoy Boerne's thriving German heritage. The annual Berges Fest in June and the Boerne Village Band's summer Abendkonzerte series are just two of the year's German events. Also take time to learn more about the city's Turn Verein (bowling) or Schuetzen Verein (shooting), two of the city's historic recreational clubs.
You can also step back into the Old West. Prepare yourself for a wagon ride at Enchanted Springs Ranch and become Marshal Dillon or Miss Kitty. Here the good guys always win and wrongs are always righted.
From a stroll down historic Main Street with too many glorious pies to try in a day, through a vast array of art galleries and shops while taking in the local heritage and then returning to the Wild West, what more could there be? Stop and just look around. The Hill Country is a beautiful place like no other.
The Cibolo Nature Center is one of the jewels within the Hill Country. Trails within the park take visitors from Marshland to Native Texas Prairie to the dense shade of Oak and Juniper and amongst the towering cypress trees along Cibolo Creek. Then a subterranean wonderland in unseen caves, waits to be explored at a Cave Without a Name and Cascade Caverns.
Are you relaxed yet? Do you need a place to stay? Whether it's an 1859 stagecoach stop, a Hill Country resort, private Bed & Breakfast or a modern but quaint Inn on Main Street, you will find a place to relax. And if you need that extra pampering try a day at the spa. All this just minutes from Fiesta Texas, SeaWorld San Antonio, and the Shops at LaCantera.
Escape to the Texas Hill Country for a wonderful combination of old world charm and Texas hospitality.
