Beaches

Beaches
With over 600 miles of coastline, Texas is the perfect destination for warm waters and beautiful sunsets right on the beachfront. Enjoy the sea breezes of Galveston Island, only an hour drive away from Houston. Take a trip to Corpus Christi if you want to experience the heart of the Texas Gulf Coast and enjoy the sand between your toes. Across from Corpus Christi, is Port Aransas on Mustang Island. Port Aransas has become one of Texas’ most popular destinations with delicious fresh seafood restaurants and an array of beach activities from beachcombing to jet skiing. Head over to South Padre Island to soak up the sun and enjoy a variety of activities including deep-sea fishing, parasailing, dolphin cruising and even horseback riding on the beach.

Birding

Birding
Unknown by many, Texas is the nation’s top birding destination. The Lone Star State has over 625 bird species, so bring your binoculars and discover wildlife all around you. Spot anything from Swallow-tailed Kites found in the swampy streambottoms to Acadian Flycatchers nesting in the forests of Texas. Embark on a birding expedition through Big Bend National Park with 450 species to be found. Take a trip to the Bentsen-Rio Grande Valley State Park near Mission to see native birds as well as a few drifters from Latin America. Also enjoy a birding journey on the beaches of Port Aransas on the Great Texas Coastal Birding Trail.

Golfing

Golfing
If you’re looking for a relaxing day on the greens, Texas fits the bill. With over 800 courses spread across the state, there are so many options to choose from. Many Texas courses are also stops on major tours. Such PGA Tour® events include The Crowne Plaza Invitational at Colonial in Fort Worth and the Shell Houston Open® in Humble.
