CAF Airpower Museum
Commemorative Air Force (CAF) Airpower Museum, Midland

CAF Airpower Museum Visitor Information

CAF Airpower Museum
Midland, Texas

In 1961, a small group of crop dusters in Mercedes, Texas chartered the Commemorative Air Force (CAF) with the mission of restoring and preserving World War II-era combat airplanes. In 1991, the international headquarters of the CAF and the CAF Airpower Museum (educational affiliate to the CAF) moved to their current location adjacent to the Midland International Airport, in Midland, Texas.

Recognized for its collection of authentic World War II artifacts and memorabilia, we are dedicated to preserving the complete history of World War II military aviation and the memory of the men and women who built, serviced and flew the historic military aircraft of World War II.

The CAF Airpower Museum houses 100,000 square feet of hands-on exhibits illustrating aviation concepts and events from every theatre of World War II. As part of the museum tour, visitors will view aircraft on display in the CAF hangar. Many of which are part of the CAF's fleet.

Of the more than 100,000 artifacts currently at the CAF Airpower Museum, 34 are rare original Nose Art™ panels that represent the artistic expressions of young men at war. The panels were cut from the fuselages of World War II aircraft as they were being scrapped after the war. This collection is the world's largest of its kind.

Hours of operation: 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Tuesday through Saturday. Closed Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Years Eve and New Years Day. Call (432) 567-3010 for admission rates. Follow the museum at www.twitter.com/CAFMuseum or become a fan of the CAF Airpower Museum on Facebook.

Watch as history takes flight at the CAF AIRSHO®, dubbed the "Best Warbird Show in America," every October. Visit www.airsho.org for dates and ticket information.

Accredited by the American Association of Museums, the CAF Airpower Museum is also an educational affiliate of the Smithsonian Institution.
