The Texas Renaissance Festival
Escape from the Ordinary
October 10 - Nov. 29, 2009
Starting in 1975 with only three stages and 15 acres of an old strip-mining site, visionary, George Coulam built the Texas Renaissance Festival. Where vendors once laid their wares on blankets under the trees a dream world now exists. A world filled with castles and knights, magicians and jousters, and anything else one can imagine a 16th century village might have to offer.
Take a stroll down shaded cobblestone pathways and interact with jugglers, minstrels, and fortunetellers while en route to over 330 shops brimming with works of pottery, sculpted metal, woodcarvings, jewelry, and other treasures from throughout the realm. Rose gardens, maypoles, and dragons enhance the atmosphere for festival-goers as you stroll through the grassy meadows and enjoy continuous entertainment with over 200 daily performances.
The Texas Renaissance Festival is nation's largest and most acclaimed Renaissance themed park where the sights, sounds, tastes, and beauty of the 16th century come alive for eight spectacular weekends every Saturday and Sunday, and Thanksgiving Friday from Oct. 10th to Nov. 29th. Located on FM 1774, between Magnolia and Plantersville, Texas, 50 miles Northwest of Houston. Gates open at 9:00 AM, and a perfect day ends as you behold the burst of Royal Fireworks held at dusk above the festival's lake.
