Picos Gets into the Holiday Spirit with its Traditional Tamale Offerings and Annual 12 Days of Mole Beginning December 1st

HOUSTON, TX – With Black Friday quickly approaching, holiday shoppers can now look forward to experiencing one of the favorite comfort foods of the season – generously-filled Christmas tamales from Picos. And, for the first time, Executive Chef/Owner, Arnaldo Richards will be serving his famous tamales from a tamale stand in Picos’ parking lot at the corner of Kirby Drive and Richmond Avenue. The tamale fun kicks off Friday, Nov. 28 at 10 a.m. and will continue every weekend throughout the holidays.

For more than 30 years, The Richards family has been treating customers to their special Christmas tamales using authentic, regional Mexican recipe handed down for three generations. As a result, they are recognized as some of the best handmade tamales in the city. Picos will be offering several different types of tamales, including Tamales Oaxaqueños, filled with pork, chicken, vegetables, shrimp or turkey and wrapped in banana leaves for $2.95 each, and Tamales Norteños filled with pork, chicken, beef, cheese, black beans, raisins, pineapple or coconut, and wrapped in traditional corn husk for $1.50 each. Order a dozen of your favorite tamales and Picos will make your order a “baker’s dozen” by adding an extra tamale at no cost; order 5 dozen tamales and you’ll get one dozen free!

Reserve your tamales in advance by calling or drive by the Picos tamale stand and pick up what you need on the go.  The tamale stand will be open from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Nov. 28-30, the weekends of Dec. 6 and 13 and then again from Dec. 20-24.
