They're big, really big.
David Rogers' Big Bugs is coming to the San Antonio Botanical Garden this fall, opening on Labor Day weekend 2009, September 5-7. Featuring gargantuan sculptures of insects, the exhibit alters viewers' perceptions and magnifies the role of insects as nature's "hidden gardeners." Sculptures are constructed entirely from natural materials, complementing and blending with the existing landscape. Interactive programs for children and families, and integrated materials for educators, will be available at the Garden throughout the three-month exhibit.
Art in the Garden
The Art in the Garden exhibit showcases the work of artist John Henry. Known worldwide for his large-scale public works of art, John Henry will exhibit his contemporary metal sculptures throughout the 33 acres of the Botanical Garden. The massive geometric structures made of aluminum and steel join other outdoor sculpture at the Garden. Henry's pieces will be on display through July 2010.
