Ameriquest Field in Arlington is one of the nation's premier sports venues and home to Major League Baseball's Texas Rangers. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor, 1800 E. Lamar Blvd.; 817-265-3356. Six Flags Hurricane Harbor is the largest water park in the Southwest and is located on a 47-acre site with bigger, better, wetter rides and attractions to cool the hottest Texas summer. www.sixflags.com.

Legends of the Game Baseball Museum & Learning Center, 1000 Ballpark Way; 817-273-5600. This baseball museum features uniforms, balls, and equipment from the Baseball Hall of Fame and artifacts from the Smithsonian Institution and National Gallery of Art. The Learning Center for children features interactive exhibits related to science, math, history, geography and communications. www.texasrangers.com.

Johnnie High's Country Music Revue, Arlington Music Hall. 224 N. Center St., 817-226-4400, 800-540-5127. Voted "Best Live Country Music Show of the Year" by Country Music Organizations of America, this show features a cast of 20 singers, dancers and musicians. Dyno-Rock Indoor Climbing Gym, 608 E. Front St.; 817-461-3966. Not just for daredevils and athletes, this 15,000 square-foot climbing space is great exercise, and is also great for birthday parties, youth groups, and rainy day fun. www.dynorock.com.

River Legacy Living Science Center, 703 NW Green Oaks Blvd.; 817-860-6752. Offering a wide range of interactive environmental education exhibits, living aquaria, and terraria. Guided nature walks, animal presentations and special outdoor programs are scheduled year round. The Center is located at the threshold to a 1,300-acre park along the Trinity River. www.riverlegacy.org.

Fielder House Museum, 1616 W. Abram St.; 817-460-4001. Built in 1914 by Arlington leader James Park Fielder, this prairie-style home contains special exhibits on Arlington history. www.fielderhouse.org.

General Motors Assembly Plant, 2525 E. Abram; 817-607-6571. (Voice mail is only returned on Tuesdays. Plan ahead!) Home to the Cadillac Escalade and Chevrolet Suburban, the General Motors plant has been assembling automobiles in Arlington for over 50 years. Tours are limited and must be scheduled in advance. This is a two-hour walking tour and children under 10 are not allowed in the plant for safety reasons. Groups from 10-30 people are preferred.
