Located only 30 minutes south of the Dallas/Fort Worth Metroplex, Waxahachie is a step back into turn-of-the-century Texas.

The city showcases an architectural and historic flair which has made Waxahachie one of the most acclaimed movie sets in the nation. Such films as: "Places In The Heart," "Tender Mercies" and "The Trip to Bountiful," have been filmed in this picturesque city.

Waxahachie's Historic Downtown is an antique hunter's paradise. Visitors not only enjoy the historic homes and antique shopping, but can experience numerous quaint bed & breakfast inns, motels, and the Historic Rogers Hotel. With four bed & breakfast inns, Waxahachie promises ample opportunities for you to create your own weekend getaway.

Annual events include Scarborough Faire Renaissance Festival held April-May; Gingerbread Trail Tour of Homes, the first weekend of June; Crape Myrtle Festival, held July 4 weekend; SCREAMS, thrilling thousands, is open the entire month of October; third Saturday in September Texas Country Reporter Festival; Candlelight Historic Home Tour, Thanksgiving weekend and first two weekends in December, Saturday and Sunday, will give you the opportunity to tour these turn-of-the century homes; and Bethlehem Revisited, held the first two weekends of December Saturday and Sunday, invites you to walk the streets of ancient Bethlehem.
