Half-seriously
referred to as "The Texas State Bird," the mosquito is
an excuse for residents & visitors alike to join in on three
days of fun
& games. On the last Thursday, Friday & Saturday
in July at
the Clute Municipal Park, the city of Clute, Texas presents "The
Great Texas Mosquito Festival."
A group of goodwill ambassadors known as "The Executive
Swat Team," invite
you to kick back & enjoy under the "watchful" eye of Willie
Manchew, the "World's Largest Mosquito." The
celebration has gained national recognition and attracts visitors
from all over the country.
Come join us for a variety of events that includes: Horseshoe
Tournament, 5 km Mosquito Chase, Century Buzz Bike and Skate Tour,
Ms. Quito Beauty Pageant, BBQ and Fajita Cook-off, Washer Pitching
Contest, Live Music Featuring National Entertainment Acts, Senior
Citizen Contest, O You Beautiful Doll Contest, Baby Crawling Contest,
Carnival Rides, Food Booths, Arts & Crafts, Souvenirs, Games
and Haystack Dives.
