Nocturnal explores our world after dark, using traditional darkroom photography and the challenges of chemicals, enlargers, and wrinkled fingers. Ten local artists explore the romance of shadows, the serenity and stillness of night time. When natural light is gone, a hidden world reveals insecurities, fantasies, mysterious shadows and reflections.

The Garden is buzzing this weekend with the local opening of David Rogers’Big Bugs exhibit! Displayed at gardens throughout the country, David Rogers’ Big Bugs is a nationally-prominent exhibit, featuring a friendly swarm of larger-than-life insects. Constructed entirely of natural materials, these tree-sized insects turn the tables on humans, providing a “bugs-eye-view” of the important role crawly critters play in both the plant and human worlds. Big Bugs will be at the San Antonio Botanical Garden from September 5, 2009 to December 6, 2009.

Heard Natural Science Museum & Wildlife Sanctuary will present Treasures from the Earth, a new exhibit featuring an exotic collection of diamonds, gems, precious metals, rare minerals, pearls and fossils.

Take guided tours of homes built between the 1850's-1930's in Chestnut Square Historic Village. Tours are offered on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 11:00am.
