RECREATION
We won't say our weather is perfect all year long, but it's pretty
close to it! With an annual average temperature of 67 degrees, we're
never out of season. And with thirty-five parks, two rivers and
60 miles of Lake Waco shoreline, our recreational opportunities
are endless. If you're into golf, take a swing at Waco's Cottonwood
Creek Golf Course. For other forms of recreation, consider Cameron
Park. Not only is it one of the best mountain bike parks in the
state, nationally it ranks in the top 10 for disc golf.
On any given
day, you'll see hikers, cyclists, joggers, fishermen, boaters and
disc throwers enjoying our city treasure. For the less energetic,
there's plenty to watch when the MCC Highlanders or Big 12 Baylor
Bears compete.
DINING
From Tex-Mex tamales to Korean kimchee, Waco's cuisine is a daily
celebration of our colorful culture. From plain to fancy, family-style
to date-style; on the river, by the river, we serve up American,
Mexican, Greek, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Thai, Italian,
Cajun and good ol' Texas bar-b-que that can't be beat!
SHOPPING
Shopping is definitely a form of recreation in Waco! Scattered throughout
the city you can find everything from unusual gifts and fine antiques
to cowboy boots and hats. Located in historic downtown is our Entertainment
District where world savvy shoppers will delight in finding treasures
unique to our area.
ENTERTAINMENT
The Entertainment District comes alive at night with restaurants,
trendy cafes, coffee houses, and performing arts. In June on Friday nights, free outdoor concerts in Indian Spring Park draw hundreds of locals and tourists toting blankets and coolers for evenings of music.
