Mid Texas Symphony presents Passionately Bold

Apr 29, 2018

Maestro Mairs’ farewell selection in his last wave from the podium is a program filled with lush melodies and passionate emotions from both the composers, Samuel Barber, and Pyotr Tchaikovsky, as well as guest artist, world-class violinist, Charles Yang. With his youth and technical virtuosity, Charles is the perfect artist to tackle Samuel Barber’s Concert for Piano and Orchestra with the Maestro. A piece so technically demanding the artist for whom it was written refused to play it. Fearless Charles - with a wink to the orchestra and a nod to the Maestro- takes us with wild abandon to the end of our 40th Season. Also on the final program is Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 40. With its rich and brooding introspection and its fast/slow yet exhilarating pace the music bestows upon us great pleasure from our principal woodwinds and brass players. A full movement of delightful pizzicato and with the plink, plank and plunk of our expressive strings we share another interlude with the greatest minds of music, a beloved Maestro and the Mid-Texas Symphony orchestra’s musicians.
