Plano Symphony Orchestra Finale: Van Cliburn Gold

Apr 28, 2018

Hector Guzman and the Plano Symphony conclude the 2017-2018 Anniversary Season with a much beloved pianist and one of the largest and most moving symphonies in the orchestra repertory. Since his Gold Medal win at the Thirteenth Van Cliburn International Piano Competition in 2009, 26-year-old Chinese pianist Haochen Zhang has captivated audiences in the United States, Europe, and Asia with a unique combination of deep musical sensitivity, fearless imagination and spectacular virtuosity. This includes Plano Symphony audiences. The 35th Anniversary season concludes with Mahler’s moving Symphony No. 1, written for large orchestra. Mahler’s music has a way of deeply touching the human condition. This demanding work is a testament to how far the Plano Symphony Orchestra has come in its 35 years. Single tickets are now on sale.
