5K Run/Walk presented by Gruene United Methodist Church is a race where 100% of the funds raised by the entry fees go to support local food and housing ministries in our area, they include: the SOS Food Bank in New Braunfels, Volunteers in Medicine(located in downtown New Braunfels) and Steve's Pantry(the food ministries at Gruene UMC). The SOS Food Bank of New Braunfels has been fighting food insecurity and serving hungry families in the New Braunfels area for more than 25 years. This community icon is run entirely through donations and all labor is provided by volunteers from local churches and civic groups. They serve 300-400 families per month which amounts to 800-1000 persons and roughlt 18,000-20,000lb. of food per month! Voluunteers in Medicine is an organization that has been serving the community of New Braunfels by offering free medical and dental services to the uninsured for 10 years. They served 614 medical patients and 285 dental patients in 2017 alone. Steve's Pantry is the food ministry at Gruene UMC which feeds hungry families and children who may not have access to other food resources. Our current ministries combined feed approximately 250 people a month. The 5th Annual Run Feed Love 5K(last years race) donated just under $10,000 from racers entry fees and helped feed hundreds of people! Your participation in this years race will help feed and love on those in need. We will be accepting canned food donations again this year and every item that is brought you get you a ticket into the door prize of a specially made hat with the Run, Feed,Love logo on it plus more surprises!
