2019 Tapestry Gala

Apr 30, 2019

Interfaith Ministries of Greater Houston (IM) will celebrate 50 years of dialogue, collaboration and service at its annual Tapestry Gala on Tuesday, April 30, 2019 at 6:30 p.m. at The Post Oak Hotel at Uptown Houston. For more than 50 years, IM has united people of diverse backgrounds to serve the Greater Houston area. IM manifests the strength of shared beliefs through four areas of service to the greater Houston community: Meals on Wheels for Greater Houston and Galveston County/Animeals; Refugee Services; Interfaith Relations and Community Partnerships; and Volunteer Houston. This year’s gala will honor philanthropists Brigitte and Bashar Kalai, and inaugural Spirit of Respect Honoree Rabbi Roy A. Walter. Co-chairs are Shaista and Shahzad Bashir, Bimla and Swatantra Jain, Dr. Sushma and Devinder Mahajan, Lorraine and Ed Wulfe, and Nihala and Shaukat Zakaria. The evening will begin with an invocation by IM Director of Interfaith Relations Rev. Gregory Han accompanied by community leaders. Board Chair Zakaria and IM President and CEO Martin B. Cominsky will welcome guests to IM’s Golden Anniversary Gala and reminisce about the organization’s evolution through the years. KHOU Great Day Houston Host Deborah Duncan, will emcee the event and guests will enjoy music and memories spanning five decades while celebrating IM’s past and looking to the future.
