Texas Upstander: The Life of Hector P. García

Sep 17, 2020

Dr. Héctor P. García was a true Texas Upstander. Born in Mexico in 1914, García grew up in the Rio Grande Valley, earned his medical degree, and served in the U.S. Army during World War II before settling in Corpus Christi. He led a life committed to social reform, offering low- and no-cost treatment to impoverished patients, setting up the American GI Forum to advocate for equal services for Mexican American veterans, and fighting for equality in education. Join us to hear about García’s incredible legacy from Cecilia García Akers, his daughter and author of The Inspiring Life of Texan Héctor P. García, by registering for this FREE program.
