Wine Down Shop Small in Huntsville

The friendly folks in Huntsville invite you to join them in raising a glass to Texas wine at Wine Down, Shop Small, an annual event held in early May. Along with the award-winning cabernets, merlots, and zinfandels, you’ll enjoy plenty of live music and delicious food while you hunt for bargains in the many shops in downtown Huntsville.  

Nearly two dozen wineries and food vendors appear at Wine Down, Shop Small, one of a growing number of wine events in Texas. This includes several winemakers that are routinely featured at the Lone Star International Wine Competition and other contests, such as Lavaca Bluffs, Pleasant Hill, Messina Hof, and Texas South Wind Vineyard and Winery. Local staples like Mr. Hamburger, Eclectic Coffeehouse, and 1836 Steakhouse will provide the cuisine for the evening.

The party kicks off at 5 p.m. with a special performance by the Huntsville High School Swingin’ Stingers Jazz Band at the Gazebo. An hour later, Houston-based Americana artist Libby Koch will take the stage to play songs from her new album recorded with Grammy-winning producer Bil VornDick. Then chamber rock duo Mystery Loves Company will display their trademark soaring melodies and lovely harmonies from 7 - 9 p.m.

Along with the flavorful wines and the upbeat music, you’ll love the variety of shops you can visit within the charming downtown area. Huntsville is an officially designated Texas Main Street City and a Texas State Cultural District, with several downtown buildings painted by world-renowned muralist Richard Haas. Jewelry, antiques, health and beauty products, home decor, artwork, and more can all be found here. Participating stores will be offering special discounts and giveaways throughout the event, and you’ll even have the chance to win a prize by playing Around the Square Bingo throughout the night.
