Cody Hopkins Invitational Bull Riding & Freestyle Bullfights

Mark your calendar for the Cody Hopkins Invitational Bull Riding and Freestyle Bull Fight event, October 6th in Bastrop, TX! The family-friendly event includes bull riding and freestyle bullfight shows, food and beer concessions, vendors and live music all to raise awareness of the West Nile virus. Proceeds from the event will benefit the Wounded Warrior Project. The celebration is originated by the family of Bastrop County native Cody Hopkins who passed away in 2016 at the age of 13 from West Nile encephalitis. Hopkins contracted West Nile virus from a mosquito bite. Since the tragic incident, his family works to spread awareness about the virus, raise money for vaccine research and encourage other parents to take extra caution with mosquito bites.
