Trail Region, where beautiful autumn color
is a featured attraction each November.

local cuisine, and historic shops along the way.
Offering visitors many choices for a scenic driving
route along breathtaking back roads and throughout
our parks. Each autumn, the picturesque landscape
transforms to the vibrant colors throughout the East
Texas woodlands.
Autumn brings cooler temps, breathtaking color and
one-of-a-kind experiences to Palestine. Try your
hand at alligator gar fishing or take a trip aboard
the Texas State Railroad, the most relaxing way
to enjoy the Texas scenery. Fall in love with Davey
Dogwood Park, where 200-acres of forested land
features miles of hard surface roads, hiking & biking
trails and scenic views. The season also offers amazing
color for picnics, photo shoots, hiking and nature walks
in the 700-acre community forest.
Taste what lies behind the pine curtain and experience
the foodie scene from fine dining to pub fare.
In the mood for something sweet? Don’t worry,
we have one of Texas’ favorite pie stops or seek
out a local hamburger stop that is over 75 years old.
Rest your head in a 104 year old hotel full of history
and wake up to fresh brewed coffee, migas and
breakfast tacos or a pastry served in the Main Street
District, where you can take in sculptural and fine
art displays, shop for antiques and take a historical
driving tour featuring some of the 1,800 historical sites
in the area!
Start in Palestine and take the Pineywoods Autumn
Trail, a 145-mile road trip which includes historical
markers and magnificent fall colors sure to satisfy
the whole family! Autumn color is expected mid to
late November but it is recommended to call ahead.
