Kerr Arts and Cultural Center

Admire works of art made by artists from the Texas Hill Country and beyond at the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center. Located within the historic post office building in Downtown Kerrville, the center is the beating heart of the town’s arts scene. Stop by and you’ll see breathtaking paintings, sculptures, and other kinds of art that make up the variety of rotating exhibits held throughout the year. Whether you visit once a year or every season, you’ll always find something new to appreciate at the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center.

Beyond its ever-changing exhibits, the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center is also the place to go to brush up on your own artistic skills. The center frequently hosts workshops that run you through the basics of painting, creating mixed media art and collages, and more, all under the tutelage of an experienced instructor.

Although you can visit the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center any time of the year, you won’t want to miss two of its biggest events. Discover the ancient craft of gourd art at the Southwest Gourd Fine Art Show, which brings in some of the most talented artists in the country in May and June to exhibit their wide array of impressive works. In November and December, the center is transformed into an exhibition of the finest heirloom furniture in Texas during the Texas Furniture Makers Show.

Regardless of when you step into the center, you won’t want to leave without browsing the array of unique handcrafted items in the gift shop that were made by the center’s member artists. The center sits just a short walk from Downtown Kerrville’s other sights as well, including the Schreiner Mansion and numerous galleries and restaurants, making it an essential stop during your time in this Hill Country town.
