Pecos hometown style fiestas and opportunities for family fun - just check the Calendar on our website for most events. July and August offer a few uniquely West of The Pecos opportunity to stay a few days and enjoy our western hospitality. 

July 27: The Cantaloupe Food Show is an annual celebration of the Sweet Pecos Cantaloupe that was created here in Pecos and Reeves County.  The show of creative "cantaloupe" displays and the delicious cantaloupe recipes make for a tasty event! Cantaloupe recipe entries  are accepted  and judged in several categories from appetizers to deserts. A special category is held for the young – the Youth Cantaloupe Decorating Contest.  All the yummy fun takes place at the West of the Pecos Museum, 120 E. Dot Stafford Street, on Saturday afternoon. July 27: The Night in Old Pecos & Cantaloupe Festival is held in historic Downtown Pecos and the Park at the West of the Pecos Museum. The annual party is a fun family event with a variety of food and games vendors, "old west" activities, and live music. Food eating contests include cantaloupe and other "spicy" dishes. Admission is FREE and the event is 6:00 pm to Midnight, at the corner of 2nd and Oak Street. Call Chamber of Commerce for more information at 432-445-2406.
 
August 4: The 28th Annual Cantaloupe Fly-in & Lions Club Pancake Breakfast is a popular event for pilots from all over the State.  Small aircrafts fly into Pecos Municipal Airport and participate in cantaloupe bombing. The Lions Club provides a delicious pancake breakfast.   Admission is FREE. Time 7:00 AM-11:00 AM. For more information call Pecos Air Center at 432-447-2488.
