East Texas Oilmen’s Chili Cook-off 
Each November, oilfield workers from Texas, Louisiana, Oklahoma, and Arkansas gather for a chili cook-off in Kilgore where more than 100 teams compete and hundreds of spectators partake in the spicy goodness. This Kilgore chili cook-off benefits the East Texas Treatment Center.

Christmas Under the Stars
Kilgore got the nickname “City of Stars” because each Christmas season the stars atop the oil derricks in Kilgore are lit, creating a beautiful bright and colorful display over the city. This month-long celebration runs from mid-November through mid-December and includes the Christmas Parade, Rangerettes Christmas Show, the Kilgore Snowhill Festival, Main Street Mingle & Jingle, and more. It has quickly become a favorite Christmas festival in Texas.
