Pops in the Park

July 3, 2020

Celebrate Independence Day in West Texas style at Big Springs’ annual Pops in the Park. Find your seat in the Comanche Trail Amphitheater and listen to the rousing melodies of the Big Spring Symphony Orchestra that set the stage for an epic choreographed firework show that illuminates the night sky. Add in a soft summer breeze and a breathtaking sunset and you’ve got the makings of a spectacular Fourth of July Weekend.

Join thousands of folks from all over as you take part in a classic Texas summertime tradition that started in 1990. The talented ensemble of the Big Spring Orchestra is made up of professional musicians from throughout the region, so you know the music will be top notch. When you’re not enjoying the live music and awe-inspiring fireworks, get something tasty from one of the food vendors you’ll find at the top of the amphitheater. During the evening, the festivities slow down to honor veterans with a special video slideshow accompanied by music from the symphony.

Located just 40 miles northeast of Midland, Big Spring offers an inviting escape during the summer. Soak up the sun as you explore Comanche Trail Park, home of the spring that gave Big Spring its name. There are walking trails all around the historic spring site, along with places to fish, playgrounds for the kiddos, a waterpark for hot summer days, and an 18-hole golf course. For a view of town that can’t be beat, stand atop the 200-foot-tall limestone bluff at Big Spring State Park that looks out over miles of West Texas terrain. There’s plenty more to see and do in Big Spring this summer when you make Pops in the Park an essential part of your Fourth of July celebrations.
