Only a place as big and grand and beautiful as Far West Texas could pull off Viva Big Bend. Over 65 shows feature gifted artists playing a variety of musical genres. The venues are diverse, too. Some concerts are held in cozy bars and historic theaters, while others take place under a canopy of endless stars. More than a dozen venues in six charming communities host the festival. And if you’re worried about the heat, rest assured July’s weather couldn’t be better. The area’s high elevation means lower humidity and average temps in the high 80s during the day and low 60s at night.
Live music and great weather are just two reasons to visit. Big Bend National Park and picturesque state parks encompass some of the most beautiful scenery in the state. A wide variety of attractions and activities — from funky art installations to stargazing at McDonald Observatory — serve as amazing accompaniments to the music festival, as well. Why not take a few extra days in Big Bend Country to linger in its vibrant communities, explore the enchanting high desert landscape, and marvel at the Milky Way? Set against this vast and varied backdrop, Viva Big Bend promises to turn magical moments into lifelong memories.
