Belton, Texas
On the Chisholm Trail

Dining on the lake
Imagine a time when cattle were herded up North on the Chisholm Trail and Belton was one of the resting stops in the 1870's, even though founded in 1850. Known at that time for the Belton Merchants First Mondays where the best "Trading & Selling" occurred and everyone traveled to be there dressed in their best. Belton's Historic Downtown still hosts a revitalization of those days which is now called "Belton Market Days - Buying & Trading" every third Saturday of the month.

Historic Downtown
Our gorgeous, historic Bell County Courthouse sits among the historic square which is now home to several hospitable antique shops, the "Oldest Department Store in Texas" Cochran Blair & Potts, and the historic Beltonian Theater. Enjoy a walking tour of the oldest, historically marked homes in Belton; the homes of our ancestral merchants among others. Tour the South Belton Cemetery where Confederate Soldiers lay to rest and where stories remain. Home of the "Award Winning" Bell County Museum; schedule a personal or group tour or venture in for visit.

Home of Lake Belton
Enjoy nature among the Nolan Creek on the Hike and Bike Trail, a boating experience on Lake Belton, Miller's Nature Center, or Belton Lake & Recreation Area (BLORA) which is open to visitors and military.

Award Wining BBQ
Belton is home of one of the "Top 50 BBQ's in Texas" voted by Texas Monthly, lake front dining and international cuisine.

Fort Hood
Belton's proximity to Fort Hood is 20 minutes away on the 190 or beautiful back road driving.
