Rockwall, Texas

Rockwall-  Originally inhabited by the Caddo Indians.  Rockwall is a mysterious and fascinating city.  Founded in 1854, it is the county seat of Rockwall (the smallest county in Texas).  The city is twenty-two miles northeast of Dallas.  The almost square county consists of 147 miles of flat and rolling prairie ranges.  The town name was chosen after the discovery in 1851 of a stone wall that lay beneath the surface.  While digging wells, the early settlers found numerous large underground rock walls .  The city and county are named for these subterranean rock formations that have been the subject for years.  Although there has been the speculation the wall was built by prehistoric man, geologists think the phenomenon is a finger of the Balcones Fault in which the “wall” was formed by geologic stress splitting the formation.  Rockwall has maintained a family-friendly small-town atmosphere in the midst of being named the fastest growing county in Texas and the fifth-fastest growing in the nation.

Rockwall County’s proximity to Dallas and the lure of its large, peaceful homes near the lake have made it a growing suburban county.  The historic downtown area offers specialty retail shops and fine dining.  The Coast of Rockwall and greatest treasure—Lake Ray Hubbard, a 22,000-acre reservoir on the East Fork of the Trinity River and recreational lake offers 111 miles of rolling shoreline and is a center for boating, water-skiing, wind surfing, parasailing and other aquatic activities.   The Harbor District is Rockwall’s home for diverse entertainment and dining experiences.  With more than 40 shops, services and restaurants, The Harbor is both a community gem and a shopping and entertainment destination for North Texas.   Rockwall is named the “Live Musical Capital of North Texas”.  Rockwall is a dynamic and beautiful area with outstanding schools, exciting recreational options, access to high wages and affordable housing.  It is the perfect place to raise your family and enjoy an unrivaled quality of life.   Come visit us at
