IN ADDITION to special events, visitors will find
a ready welcome to the numerous local organizations and clubs such
as Lion's Club, Rotary, Kiwanis, Art Association, Garden Clubs,
and Senior Citizen Activity Center, to name a few.
Fort Stockton
is blessed with fine civic and privately owned recreational facilities:
 Coliseum
& Civic Center: The indoor arena and coliseum provide an
outstanding assortment of entertainment. Rodeos, cutting horse,
and roping competitions are held on almost a weekly basis. The civic
center hosts dances and other activities. Located

Swimming
Pools: Comanche Springs Pool and Gene Cummings Park have Olympic
pools open summers to the public, and the High School pool is open
in the evenings year round.
Tennis:
16 lighted courts, visitors are always welcome.
Theater:

Bowling Lane: COMING LATE 2005
Teen
Center: Teenagers have their own facility where they can play
pool, video games, Ping-Pong, enjoy the snack bar, and more. Hours
vary, call (432) 336-4615 for more information. Located at 1201 W.
Sherer, there is a small admission fee.
Living
Desert: An enhanced nature trail displays plants of the Chihuahuan
Desert. The plants have been labeled providing information on common
name and scientific names. Trail begins near the Guard House at
Historic Fort Stockton.
Desert Pines 18-Hole Municipal Golf Course: This is the home course
of Blaine McCallister, one of the PGA's top contenders. Course is
open Tuesday through Sunday. It is located on U.S. Highway 285 (One
mile northwest of Fort Stockton). Greens fees are $15 on weekdays
and $20 on weekends & holidays. Carts are available and rent

Wildlife
Viewing Area: Six miles north of Fort Stockton on FM 18, the
Texas Highway Department has provided for off road parking (No other
facilities). Take your binoculars and bird books with you. The site
is adjacent to the Diamond Y Nature Preserve, a property owned and
managed by the Texas Nature Conservancy.
Rooney
Park: Walking path, two playgrounds, an abundance of picnic
sites, and restrooms are just some of the park's features. Located on South Hwy. 285.
Ste. Genevieve Wines: The largest of Texas' 54 wineries, Ste. Genevieve is one of the fastest growing wines in the country. Quality is the reason. Ste. Genevieve offers Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc, Gamay, White Zinfandel, and Red Zinfandel, plus their special blends - Texas Red, Texas White, and Texas Blush. Plaza:
Located along Interstate Highway 10, Stockton Plaza Entertainment
