"Bravo Brazosport" is what you will be cheering
after you have seen what Brazosport, Texas has to offer. Located
50 miles south of Houston, the Brazosport area consists of eight
cities: Clute, Freeport, Jones Creek, Lake Jackson, Oyster Creek
Quintana, Richwood, and Surfside Beach. Brazosport, located on the
Texas Gulf Coast is where Texas began, where the first deep-water
port was established and where the Republic of Texas' first capital
was located near modern-day West Columbia. The Brazosport area is
known for its diversity, rich history, and natural beauty.
Make
your "Fish Wishes" come true in the gulf waters of
Brazosport, home of the State Record Red Snapper. From wade to
jetty fishing, to Intracoastal Canal bank fishing and offshore
deep sea fishing, the opportunities to catch the one that got
away are year round and endless. Fishing charters and guided
trips are also available for your fishing pleasure.
Brazosport
always has "Fowl Weather". Yes, our climate is perfect
for birding. Each year thousands of birders travel from various
states and countries to view the approximately 300 bird species
known to the area. The National Audubon Society conducts an Annual
Christmas Day Bird Count and consistently ranks Brazosport as the
number one site for different species counted on the North American
Continent.
"Shell
Shocked" is what you will be after discovering the 600 known
shell species found among our 27 miles of sandy beaches. Quintana,
Bryan and Surfside Beaches are a few of the favorite hot spots
in the area. You will be astonished at the scads of sea shells
speckling Brazosport beaches. These beaches are also home to Texas'
state shell, The Lightning Whelk.
If "Grouper
Therapy" is what the doctor ordered, your prescription can
be filled at Sea Center Texas. Drift lazily in the vast aquariums
and visit Gordon, the 350 pound grouper. There is also a touch
tank for the young and young-at-heart. Sea Center Texas is home
to the largest red drum fish hatchery in the world.
Dive into the unexplored in our gulf waters. Diving
is rapidly becoming a popular activity with the Texas Flower Gardens
as an underwater main attraction. There is no shortage of activities
to entertain people in the Brazosport Area. Camping, golf, tennis
and other attractions such as the Center for the Arts and Sciences,
two National Wildlife Refuges, museums, and the many parks and
local festivals draw tourists to the area on a year round basis.
So come see where Texas history was made. Muse at the
museums. Golf your argyles off. Browse our shops. Fish for our wonders
of the sea. Tan, surf, and shell on our beaches. The Brazosport area
also offers numerous fine restaurants and after a fun filled day,
visitors can tuck themselves into the many hotels, beach houses and
bed & breakfasts in the area.
Come visit us on the Texas Gulf Coast,
and let us hear you shout "Bravo! Brazosport."
