Located 50 miles south of Houston, the Brazosport area consists of eight cities: Clute, Freeport, Jones Creek, Lake Jackson, Oyster Creek Quintana, Richwood, and Surfside Beach. Brazosport, located on the Texas Gulf Coast is where Texas began, where the first deep-water port was established and where the Republic of Texas' first capital was located near modern-day West Columbia. The Brazosport area is known for its diversity, rich history, and natural beauty.

Fish WishMake your "Fish Wishes" come true in the gulf waters of Brazosport, home of the State Record Red Snapper. From wade to jetty fishing, to Intracoastal Canal bank fishing and offshore deep sea fishing, the opportunities to catch the one that got away are year round and endless. Fishing charters and guided trips are also available for your fishing pleasure.

Fowl WeatherBrazosport always has "Fowl Weather". Yes, our climate is perfect for birding. Each year thousands of birders travel from various states and countries to view the approximately 300 bird species known to the area. The National Audubon Society conducts an Annual Christmas Day Bird Count and consistently ranks Brazosport as the number one site for different species counted on the North American Continent.

Shell Shocked"Shell Shocked" is what you will be after discovering the 600 known shell species found among our 27 miles of sandy beaches. Quintana, Bryan and Surfside Beaches are a few of the favorite hot spots in the area. You will be astonished at the scads of sea shells speckling Brazosport beaches. These beaches are also home to Texas' state shell, The Lightning Whelk.

Grouper TherapyIf "Grouper Therapy" is what the doctor ordered, your prescription can be filled at Sea Center Texas. Drift lazily in the vast aquariums and visit Gordon, the 350 pound grouper. There is also a touch tank for the young and young-at-heart. Sea Center Texas is home to the largest red drum fish hatchery in the world.

Dive into the unexplored in our gulf waters. Diving is rapidly becoming a popular activity with the Texas Flower Gardens as an underwater main attraction. There is no shortage of activities to entertain people in the Brazosport Area. Camping, golf, tennis and other attractions such as the Center for the Arts and Sciences, two National Wildlife Refuges, museums, and the many parks and local festivals draw tourists to the area on a year round basis.

So come see where Texas history was made. Muse at the museums. Golf your argyles off. Browse our shops. Fish for our wonders of the sea. Tan, surf, and shell on our beaches. The Brazosport area also offers numerous fine restaurants and after a fun filled day, visitors can tuck themselves into the many hotels, beach houses and bed & breakfasts in the area.
