Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Convention Center
When you're driving onto Galveston Island, you'll be met first by Moody Garden's iconic glass pyraminds. More than just a famous attraction, it's where you'll find the Moody Gardens Hotel, Spa and Convention Center, one of Galveston's premier resort destinations. The beach is close, the on-site attractions are closer, and the service will have you feeling like beach-side royalty.
The hotel handles just about every type of trip you can throw at it. Anniversary weekend, spring break with the kids, destination wedding, corporate retreat—take your pick. There are over 420 guest rooms, more than 103,000 square feet of meeting and event space, and 242 acres of tropical grounds and water features surrounding the hotel. Add a heated pool with a swim-up bar, an indoor pool inside a full-service fitness center, a luxury spa, and several places to eat on-site, and you've got a resort that rarely gives you a reason to leave the property. Considering how jam-packed Galveston is with things to do, that's saying a lot.
Guest Rooms & Hotel Experience
The rooms recently went through a $6 million overhaul, and it shows. Naturally, the redesign leans into a coastal aesthetic—clean lines, updated furniture, quality finishes, and the kind of mattress that'll make you forget all about the one back home. Large windows provide views of the pyramids, the marina, or Galveston Bay, depending on which direction your room faces.
And we can't forget about the plush robes, spa-grade bath products, pillow-top mattresses, premium bedding, refrigerator, coffee maker, charging stations, complimentary Wi-Fi, and plenty of in-room entertainment waiting for you. Housekeeping comes through twice a day with an optional evening turndown, and room service runs around the clock if you'd rather not change out of those robes. We wouldn't blame you.
Spa & Recreation
The Spa at Moody Gardens runs the full menu: hydrotherapy, massage, and a handful of treatments designed to undo all that pesky mainland stress. The atmosphere is built for unwinding and their team is good at what they do.
But relaxation takes many forms. To some, it's a back massage; to others, it's a round at the golf course. The nearby public golf course features 18 holes of championship play in a scenic coastal setting. For something of the "well, that's different" genre, guests can take on the multi-level Ropes Course and Zip Line, offering elevated views of the property.
Dining
If 13th floors are supposed to be unlucky, Moody Gardens makes the case for the lucky ninth floor. It's where you'll find gulf-fresh seafood and premium steaks at Shearn's Seafood and Prime Steaks. This is a AAA Four-Diamond restaurant with a menu and a view that both deliver the goods. For the meals that don't require a dinner reservation, the hotel has additional options covering breakfast, lunch, and lighter fare throughout the day.
Moody Gardens Attractions
Unlike other luxury hotels that have you driving to and fro for your weekend plans, you don't have to leave the grounds of this one to fill out a full day. The hotel connects directly to Moody Gardens' biggest attractions: the three glass pyramids. The Aquarium Pyramid takes you through marine habitats, the Rainforest Pyramid drops you into a living tropical ecosystem, and the Discovery Pyramid keeps things interactive with hands-on exhibits. Outside the pyramids, 3D and 4D theaters, seasonal programming, and Palm Beach extend the options even further.
