The George | College Station

The George | College Station

A tranquil pool with colorful lounge chairs sits before the modern brick facade of The George hotel in College Station, Texas.

The George is a four-star boutique hotel across from Texas A&M in College Station, Texas. As an independent property in the distinguished Valencia Hotel Group, The George reflects the history, character, and lifestyle of the city it serves. The George's rustic yet refined Texas-inspired design recognizes the community's ties to education, agriculture, and the railroad. It also pays tribute to several of America's notable "Georges."

Lobby and Design Details

In the lobby, steel and glass mingle with warm wood and a friendly staff. Throughout the hotel, designers have showcased the work of area artisans and craftsmen. A quirky flock of movable sheep statues greets guests. Houston artist GONZO247 added brilliant graffiti coats to some, while several have left the flock and wandered into guest rooms. A massive Texas flag, made from 10,000 red, white, and blue books, covers an entire wall and is perhaps the most Instagram-worthy spot in town. On the opposite wall, 6,000 feet of rope, aged in sweet tea, is a woven tribute to Texas' working cowboys and a conversation piece.

The 1791 Whiskey Bar and Poppy Restaurant

The hotel's main gathering space is the 1791 Whiskey Bar. It's named for the 1791 rebellion against a whiskey tax. President George Washington's decisive actions subdued an unruly new frontier (western Pennsylvania) and restored order in our young country. You can toast George or any occasion with whiskeys from around the world. Whether you start your evening here before dinner or end your day with a nightcap, don't forget to look up. A custom light fixture created with 1,200 whiskey bottles from the Texas Rose Distillery bathes the bar and cozy seating areas in soft light. It's proof that distilling in Texas is alive and well!

For a full meal, the hotel is also home to Poppy, its on-site farm-to-fire restaurant serving fresh seafood and steak alongside rotating, regional menus.People gather and children play on the lawn under strings of lights at a lively outdoor plaza in College Station, Texas at night.

Guest Rooms and Suites

Hints at College Station's early days as a train stop are apparent on the upper floors. Guestrooms and suites take their cue from the luxurious (George) Pullman sleeper cars, albeit on a much more spacious scale. Just as Pullman cars were known for their comfort, The George's 162 guestrooms and suites are all about your rest and relaxation. The Valencia Hotel Group places the quality of your sleep above all else. Their custom mattresses, dressed in monogrammed Egyptian cotton bedding, might tempt you to never leave the room. The bathroom is equally inviting with LATHER® bath products and branded robes. In the walk-in showers, you'll be treated to a tiled message. "Don't squat with your spurs on" is one that will bring a smile to your face!

With a nod to George H.W. and George W. Bush, you'll find a 1,900-square-foot Presidential Suite — one of seven suites in all — occupying the hotel's penthouse. With multiple sitting areas and a view of Texas A&M, the handsome rooms are perfect for a relaxed stay or entertaining friends in your home away from home on game day.

Location, Amenities, and Events

The George sits in the middle of Century Square — an upscale mixed-use development with shops, spas, restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues. The George makes an ideal home base for exploring College Station, enjoying a game at Texas A&M, or visiting the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library, about two miles away on the Texas A&M campus. Complimentary breakfast and garage parking are included with your stay, and the hotel offers golf packages, wine-tasting weekends, and getaways with friends to help you plan your perfect vacation.

If love is in the air, The George has you covered as well, with romantic stays and one of the best wedding venues in College Station, including a 5,236-square-foot ballroom. Whether you envision a micro wedding or a large reception, The George's wedding specialists make your dream wedding a reality.

For business travelers, the in-room workstation, meeting rooms, proximity to the area's largest corporations, and dedicated business travel program make The George a wise choice. If you need some motivation to work rather than lounge in the pristine outdoor pool, tile work in the hotel suggests you "make hay while the sun shines."
