Plano Symphony Orchestra: Carmina Burana and the Young Artists

Mar 24, 2018

Not performed in seven years by the Plano Symphony, Carmina Burana is Carl Orff’s most popular work and one of the most enjoyed pieces in the orchestra and chorus repertory. The famous collection of sacred and profane songs is based on 24 poems from a medieval collection of the same name. The work is for large orchestra, chorus and three soloists. Its immensely attractive music has been used in commercials, cinema, and like this performance, dance. Hector Guzman and the Orchestra are joined by members of the Collin County Ballet Theatre and the Plano Civic Chorus in this unique 35th Anniversary offering of excerpts from Carmina Burana. Then prepare to be amazed by the incredible winners of the annual Collin County Young Artist Competition in their concerto-winning performances -- an amazing showcase of extraordinary young talent.
