Wine in the Pines combines the natural romance of the rails with the deep flavors of wine and chocolate, making the senses work overtime while the rest of the body is relaxed and refreshed. On summer Friday evenings, it’s not just the stars that come out to play in Texas. As the sun slips behind the pine curtain, cool air sweeps through the branches signaling to passengers on Texas State Railroad’s evening excursion that the luminous moon-kissed skies will guide the way on for romance on the rails. Wines in the Pines Wine, chocolate, and romance… makes a perfect evening! These adult-only evening excursions offer the merriment of wine and chocolate under the ambience of a Texas skyscape. One of the secrets of this journey is the transition from day to night … such as white to red wine and milk to dark chocolate. This event will include a variety selection of Texas wines enhanced by complementary snacks during the outbound train journey departing from the Palestine depot. A mouthwatering barbecue dinner, included in the price of your ticket, will be served at the Rusk depot. Iced tea, soda, water or coffee is included with the meal. All wines sampled onboard the train, along with other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages, will be available for purchase. The return excursion, featuring a variety of luxurious chocolates, allows ample time for all wine lovers to savor a full serving of their favorite blend, comparing notes and sharing stories with friends and loved ones. These excursions depart the Palestine, TX depot and travels roundtrip to Rusk and back. This special event’s accommodation options include pampering in either First Class, the Upper Dome Car, Presidential or the private-charter Caboose.
