The Charcoal Challenge BBQ Cookoff is hosted by the Lee County Fair every year on the third weekend in May at the Firemens Park/Lee County Fairgrounds on Hwy 290 in Giddings. Main events happen on Friday and Saturday. Friday contests are Jackpot beans, margaritas and an open contest. Saturday has a Junior Division cookoff as well as contests for bloody marys, brisket, chicken, pork, salsa, wine and beer. Take time in between to enjoy the Lee County Fair with live music, carnival, vendors, food and variety shows throughout the days. Don't miss the Armed Forces Day tribute and parade at Veterans Park Saturday morning at 10am.
