Campaign Briefing: The Marshalls

In January 1944, Admiral Nimitz launched an ambitious strike into the center of the Japanese held Pacific. Landing on Majuro, Kwajalein, and Eniwetok, American forces began the drive through the Central Pacific. At stake—the massive Japanese Naval Base at Truk and with it, control of the seas around it. Join us on July 6th to examine the big questions of the campaign: “why did we invade the Marshalls?”, “what happened during the battle?” and “what was the result of the campaign?”. During the presentation, the living history volunteers of Company K will engage in a battle demonstration including simulated explosives, blank-firing guns, and a real M2-2 flamethrower. Presentations are offered at 11:00 and 2:00. This presentation is not recommended for small children, pets, or those with heart conditions. Campaign Briefings are open to the public with admission by donation. No ticket is required, and seating is first come first serve.
