8th Annual Winnsboro Festival of Books

May 01, 2026 - May 02, 2026

A new chapter begins as the 8th Annual Festival of Books returns to downtown Winnsboro on Friday and Saturday, May 1–2. Hosted by the Winnsboro Center for the Arts (WCA), this free event transforms downtown into a lively celebration of stories and storytellers, inviting guests to meet Texas authors and enjoy literary experiences for all ages. Set along The Bowery, visitors can stroll storybook-like streets while exploring charming shops and eateries. This year’s festival features two special guests. Bob Livingston, a pioneering Texas singer-songwriter and member of the legendary Lost Gonzo Band, is the event’s featured author. His memoir, Gypsy Alibi: A Gonzo Memoir, earned Best First Book of Nonfiction honors from the Texas Institute of Letters. Joining the fun is Corduroy, the beloved children’s book character, offering hugs, high-fives and photo opportunities for young readers. Friday, May 1 (6–9 p.m.) kicks off with a Meet & Greet with featured authors, followed by an evening of stories and music with Livingston (ticketed). Saturday, May 2 (9 a.m.–3 p.m.) features poetry, readings, open mic sessions, and Livingston’s special performance, “Soundtrack of the Page.” Guests can browse books, meet authors, and enjoy interactive art and literacy activities for kids.
