Join New York Times bestselling author Anne Byrn as she tells the story of American history through 12 iconic cakes in honor of America’s 250th anniversary.
Explore cakes from the time of America’s founding, such as Martha Washington’s Great Cake, as well as later cakes that reflect immigration, regional identity and culinary innovation in Texas, including Texas sheet cake, German chocolate cake, and tres leches. After the presentation, Byrn will conduct a book signing. A limited number of copies of Baking in the American South will be available for purchase in the Museum Store.
Stay after the event for a cake tasting of select recipes from Baking in the American South and American Cake with local baker Cupprimo.
