7 p.m. | Vallejo
Hailing from Austin, Texas, Vallejo brings a sonic melting pot of classic album rock mixed with contagious funky rhythms and Latin percussion. Vallejo was started by the three Vallejo brothers from El Campo, Texas—vocalist and lead guitarist AJ Vallejo, twin brother Alex Vallejo on drums and younger sibling Omar Vallejo on bass—along with high school friend Bruce Castleberry on guitar and percussionist Alex Geismar. Vallejo has toured all over the U.S. and Mexico supporting such acts as Matchbox 20, Stone Temple Pilots, Juanes and Los Lobos.
8 p.m. | Alejandro Escovedo
A celebrated singer and songwriter, Alejandro Escovedo has as eclectic a background and body of work as any rock artist of his generation. Escovedo played an important role in punk (with The Nuns), roots rock (the True Believers), and alt-country (Rank & File) before launching a solo career that’s seen him work with everyone from John Cale to Bruce Springsteen. Escovedo’s most recent album, Echo Dancing, is a unique adventure into recording new versions of songs from his past and approaching them as challenges to express what the music means to him today.
