52nd World Championship BBQ Goat Cook-Off
Sep 04, 2026 - Sep 05, 2026
It all started in 1974 when 16 cook teams got together to roast some goat in an effort to raise money for the Jaycees of McCulloch county. Yes, it was just your typical small-town Texas cook-off. We never could have imagined that it would become what it is today.
We now boast 200+ cook teams, and close to 13,000 attendees come from all over Texas and beyond. Over 5,700 pounds of goat are cooked each year in Brady, Texas, at Richard’s Park on Labor Day Weekend.
And it gets even better! Not only is this the biggest and longest running cook off of its kind, but it’s also fun for the whole family. With an Arts & Crafts Fair, children’s games and activities, a Goat Gallop fun run, a cornhole tournament, and a cooker welcome dance on Friday night and live music all day Saturday, it’s a good time for all ages!
