Event Details Join us for a FREE public reading of the Declaration of Independence in the Grand Lobby in honor of the 250th anniversary of the United States! Organized by America250 Hawaii, Americans across all 50 states and 16 territories of the U.S. will read the Declaration of Independence simultaneously to commemorate its first reading to the public on July 8, 1776. The event begins with a flag ceremony at 4:45 p.m. followed by a reading of the Declaration of Independence by members of the Andrew Carruthers Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution, the Patrick Henry Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution, and Granaderos y Damas de Gálvez San Antonio Founding Chapter at 5 p.m. The historical document will be read in its entirety and original language.
