Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark

Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark

Playing in the ocean is great, but sometimes you want to get wet without worrying about seaweed or choppy tides. Perhaps you want to enjoy some aquatic thrills Mother Nature just can’t provide. No matter when such a desire strikes you - from the dog days of summer to the dead of winter – you’ll always find crystal-clear water flowing at Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark, one of the top indoor and outdoor waterparks in Texas.

Inside Schlitterbahn Galveston’s 26 acres, there are more than 30 exciting slides, rides, and pools to enjoy. This includes the world’s tallest uphill water coaster, MASSIV, which features four uphill sections and a first-of-its-kind triple-drop into a landing pool at the finale. MASSIV complements other pulse-pounding rides such as Dragon Blaster, Faust Und Furious, and Cliffhanger, the notorious 81-foot freefall slide.

For the younger crowd, or those who prefer a more relaxed pace, there are plenty of other ways to enjoy Schlitterbahn Galveston. Lounge by the calm waters of Kristal Bay, or splash with the kids in the shallows of the Tiki Tikes pool. The park is also home to a 70,000 square-foot convertible indoor area with more than a dozen heated water adventures for thrill-seekers and slow-goers alike, including tube and speed slides, kids’ activity areas, a secluded beach, a man-made surfing wave, a wave river, and a heated pool. The Wasserfest pool even has a swim-up pool bar that serves cool beverages you can sip on while the youngsters enjoy the adjacent kids’ area.

To top it off, you can see the park from a whole new angle on the Soaring Eagle Zip Line, Galveston’s only zip line ride. This open-air gondola ride lifts you and a friend 100 feet in the air, over the rivers and slides, for an amazing view of Galveston Island and the Gulf of Mexico. Your journey ends with a 30-mile-per-hour zoom back to the ground.

Although picnic foods are allowed in the park, you’ll be tempted by the delicious confections created at the Funnel Cake Factory, the mouth-watering barbecue at BBQ Haus, and the pies cooked up daily at Pointe Pizza. To bring the restaurants to you, rent one of the Schlitterbahn’s private cabanas or luxury loungers that come with wait service and complimentary bottled water. These shady huts can seat up to 24 people on hammocks and lounge chairs and make for a truly relaxing retreat during the summer months.

Parking is always free, as are tubes, boogie boards, and life jackets. Grab the kids and head for Schlitterbahn Galveston Island Waterpark for a fun day of aquatic adventure the whole family will enjoy.
