April

Doc Holliday Saints and Sinners Festival

Step back into the Wild West at the Doc Holliday Festival, celebrating Denison’s frontier roots and the colorful characters who shaped our early history. Hosted in honor of Denison’s role as a railroad boomtown in the 1870-80’s with authentic old west reenactors from the past when Doc Holliday had an office in Downtown Denison! Events will include authors, historians, wild west photo ops, wagon rides, kids activities, petting zoo, gunfights, a costume contests, food, live music, and much more. Don’t miss out on this fun-filled day.

Summer

Music On Main

Music on Main is Denison’s signature summertime concert series, returning for another exciting season every Friday in June and July. Held in beautiful Forest Park, this free, family-friendly event features live music, local vendors, and a welcoming community atmosphere. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with a live broadcast of Music Alley Happy Hour on the Downtown Denison TX Facebook page, offering a fun preview of the night’s festivities. Attendees are encouraged to dine in, carry out, or order delivery from their favorite downtown restaurants before heading to the park. Concerts begin at 7:30 p.m. Guests are invited to bring blankets or lawn chairs to relax and enjoy the show. In addition to great music, the event also features Main Street business vendors on-site, adding to the vibrant, festival-like experience. Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering Music on Main for the first time, this is the perfect way to spend your summer Fridays in Denison.

October

Eisenhower’s Birthday Celebration

Denison will celebrate General Dwight D. Eisenhower’s 136th birthday on Saturday, October 10, 2026, honoring his legacy and his 1946 return to the city. The celebration begins with a Brick Dedication Ceremony at 9:00 AM at the Eisenhower Monument (Hwy 75 at N. Loy Lake Road, exit 67). From 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM, the Eisenhower Birthplace State Historic Site (609 S. Lamar Ave) will offer limited free hourly tours, crafts and activities, and a performance by the Scott Middle School Band at 11:00 AM. Additional free heritage stops include the Perrin Air Force Base Museum (9:00 AM–4:00 PM) and the Red River Railroad Museum (11:00 AM–4:00 PM).

Denison Main Street Fall Festival

The Annual Denison Fall Festival takes place in Downtown Denison on the first Saturday of October from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Organized by the Denison Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of Denison, the event features 100+ local vendors, live entertainment, kid-friendly activities, and food trucks and local cuisine. Festival highlights also include a vintage car show and motorcycle demonstrations. The celebration is set among the historic shops, bars, boutiques, and antique stores of Main Street in Denison, a Great American Main Street Award recipient.

November

Dia de Muertos Festival

Celebrate the rich cultural heritage of Mexico at the Día de los Muertos Festival in Denison, Texas. Hosted by the Denison Arts Council, this vibrant event honors the Day of the Dead with a day full of traditional music, dance, art, and community. Live Performances: Experience captivating performances by mariachi bands, Aztec and Mayan dancers, Ballet Folklórico, and more.

December

Christmas Parade & Tree Lighting

Denison’s community holiday celebration brings seasonal activities to downtown, culminating in a night of music, lights, and tradition. The evening begins with the Scott Middle School Scott Scholars’ Hot Cocoa Competition, followed by a festive performance from Shawnda Rains Entertainment Group. A tree lighting ceremony then illuminates Denison’s award-winning downtown district. The celebration concludes with the Annual Christmas Parade, hosted by the Denison Area Chamber of Commerce, as floats, performers, and Santa travel down Main Street.

Denison On Ice

Denison on Ice transforms Downtown Denison into a winter destination with an outdoor, canopy-covered ice skating rink for all ages. Opening Day is November 21, 2026, with Adaptive Skating offered Saturdays from 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM; the rink is closed on Thanksgiving Day (11/27), Christmas Eve (12/24), and Christmas Day (12/25). Skating is available rain or shine, with closures only if lightning is detected within a 10-mile radius. The event has drawn more than 14,000 visitors in prior seasons, with local shops and restaurants adding to the festive atmosphere nearby.
