Events in Goliad
One of the best things about Goliad is that you don't have to stress about planning your trip on a particular weekend. All year long, the city plays host to a wide variety of events, so that anytime you mosey into town, there's something going on. It could be the courthouse square turning into a massive outdoor market. It could be a county fair and rodeo. It could be the city's annual Cinco de Mayo celebration, which isn't just any ol' Cinco de Mayo either, since the general who won the victory that created the holiday was born in Goliad. Plan your trip around one of these events or play festival roulette and see which party you walk into.

Goliad Massacre & Living History Program
Just as vendors take over the courthouse square on Goliad Market Days, living historians take over the Presidio La Bahía for the Goliad Massacre & Living History Program. This event includes a full-on battle reenactment, camp life demonstrations, and a candlelight tour of the fort after dark.

Cinco de Mayo
The reason there's a Cinco de Mayo celebration anywhere in the world is because General Ignacio Zaragoza pulled out the underdog victory against the French in a pivotal battle. And it just so happens that Zaragoza was born in Goliad. That makes the city's annual Cinco de Mayo celebration all the more special. Expect to find plenty of great food, mariachi, and vendors.

Fall Flotilla
Cruising down the San Antonio River by yourself has a certain allure, but if you'd prefer company and the opportunity to make a new friend or two, the Fall Flotilla is for you. This paddling event takes off in the morning and when you've reached the end of the trail, a shuttle will take you back to the starting point for a catered lunch under the oak trees.

Christmas in Goliad
Come Christmas, Goliad radiates with color and good cheer. The historic courthouse square hosts a lighted nighttime parade that regularly includes more than a hundred entries, as well as craft vendors, food, and live music. When Santa Claus comes to Goliad, he arrives on a longhorn steer. What can we say? The big guy knows his audience.
