Attractions in Weatherford

Although Weatherford is known for its cowboy culture and being the Cutting Horse Capital of the World, it’s a heck a lot more than boots and hats, ropes and reins. This charming city is loaded with a variety of attractions. Whether your ideal destination has boutique shopping and lush gardens, or stocked lakes and mountain bike trails, you’ll find this welcoming community is a perfect destination.

Weatherford Downtown Historic District

Named a National Historic District in 1990, downtown Weatherford is bustling with quaint boutiques, restaurants, and community events. The centerpiece is the Parker County Courthouse — an 1880s limestone building trimmed in red in the French Empire style. More than 60 stately Queen Anne and Victorian homes grace the surrounding tree-lined streets. As you stroll around downtown, you’ll find historic markers that share the story of Weatherford’s residents.

Shop for fresh-picked veggies, homemade jams, Western decor, and beautiful creations by local artisans. In the summer, you’ll find Parker County peaches, and, in the autumn, you’ll find locally grown pecans and pumpkins ready for carving. Winter brings Christmas trees ready for trimming.
