Alibates Flint Quarry National Monument

Visit the Alibates Flint Quarries National Monument to see the dramatic abundance of brightly colored flint that was so important to the way of life of the region’s inhabitants who lived here 13,000 years ago. Learn about the Plains Village Native Americans, ancestors of the Caddo, Wichita, and Pawnee peoples, who lived here in villages and seasonal gathering communities between A.D. 1150 and 1450. Hike with a ranger and check out the exhibits and the park movie at the Alibates Visitor Center.
