Alibates Flint Quarry National Monument
Visit the Alibates Flint Quarry to see the dramatic abundance of the brightly colored flint that was so important to the way of life for the region’s inhabitants that lived here 13,000 years ago. Learn about the Plains Village Native Americans, ancestors of the Caddo, Wichita, and Pawnee Native Americans, that lived here in villages and gathering communities between 1150 and 1450 A.D. Hike with a ranger and check out the exhibits and park movie at the Alibates Visitor Center.
