Chocolate Walk & Food Drive
Follow the red balloons as local businesses invite you and all chocoholics to kick off the Valentine's Day season by participating in West Columbia's Sweetest Event! Shop local for Valentine's Day and enjoy scrumptious treats at each location! Food donations are greatly appreciated and accepted to help replenish our local food pantry, donation boxes located at each participating business. Come out and enjoy the day and enter to win one of many door prizes. Sponsored by the West Columbia Chamber of Commerce.

Social Saturday ~ Eat ... Drink ... Shop ... Tour West Columbia, TX
Come see us this weekend! You will find dozens of retailers, restaurants, and historic sites to discover in West Columbia. We will take you on a journey through our quaint historic town filled with unique treasures for every taste, clothing, jewelry, gifts, specialty foods, home accessories, arts, and crafts.  An endless supply of shopping opportunities awaits! Discover scrumptious delights at an eclectic collection of restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, and tasty beverages to tempt you along the way!  Come visit the First Capitol of the Republic of Texas.  Where History and Progress do a Texas Two Step!

Antique, Juntique & Craft Show
Showcases vendors in antiques, juntiques, vintage, collectables, quilts and repurposed items.  Live music held in conjunction with Social Saturdays.  The event is scheduled for September annually, held downtown West Columbia.


April

Governor Hogg Easter Egg Hunt
Join us at Varner-Hogg Plantation on April 2nd for Governor Hogg’s Easter Egg Hunt! There will be thousands of eggs filled with candy or small toys to be found by children ages 12 and under. Please keep in mind that during this difficult time, we may have to move this event to online and host Governor Hogg’s Virtual Easter Egg Hunt!

San Jacinto Festival Trade Day and Parade
Always held the third weekend in April, this multi-faceted event commemorates San Jacinto Day.  Included in the festivities are a Downtown Parade highlighting local talent and organizations, Headliner Talent Concert in the Park, Grit Fitness Run, Kid’s Midway, BBQ Cookoff, Junior Miss, Belle of the Brazos Pageant and Style Show, Little Belle/Beau Pageant and Style Show, Little Miss/Mister of the Brazos Pageant and Style Show, and Trade Days that includes food and craft vendors.  The Rotary Shrimp Boil, Fish Fry and Live Auction is held concurrently. 

Rotary Shrimp Boil, Fish Fry & Live Auction
The West Columbia Rotary Club will be hosting its 47th Annual Shrimp Boil, Fish Fry and Auction on Saturday April 17th in conjunction with the San Jacinto Festival.  The boil has become an important event to raise funds for the Rotary Club, as well as help fund community projects, including scholarships and public works projects. The event location will be held at the American Legion Hall 219 Veterans Memorial Park Dr. The time will be 11am – 2pm.

Celebrate America's Birthday in the First Capital of the Republic of Texas. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and enjoy a night of colorful explosions in the night sky, food vendors, live music, and children’s activities.

Ghost Along the Brazos
Take a spooky stroll around the Varner-Hogg Plantation grounds and listen to tales about the ghostly heritage of the area. Plenty of dangers lurked in the early Texas wilderness and many settlers did not live to tell their tales! Then, discover Victorian funeral and mourning practices at the main house. Downtown Halloween Trick or Treat
October 30th from 5-7:30pm
Trick or Treat your way through downtown West Columbia. Bring your costumed kiddos for a family friendly event and enjoy a ghoulishly good time. Trick or Treat at participating merchants (look for the purple and orange balloons) and vendors while enjoying games and activities at the Pocket Park and Rosenwald School (Broad St. will be closed to traffic during the event).   Bring your little ghosts and goblins to participate in the Costume Contest starting promptly at 6pm. Compliments of participating Merchants, Churches, Organizations, West Columbia Parks Board, and the City of West Columbia.


November

Moonlight Madness/Shopping Extravaganza
Live music accompanies the specials offered by the businesses on this Moonlight Madness night.  There will be libations and appetizers at the Visitors Center, with door prize drawings at the culmination of the evening. 

Annual Holiday Open House
Load up your Favorite Shopaholics and head downtown to enjoy a Festive Fun filled day of Prizes, Refreshments, Live Music and Holly Jolly Cheer as you knock out your Christmas list. Downtown is the perfect place to find one-of-a-kind gifts, holiday decor and delicious specials at our local restaurants. It's the most wonderful times of the year!

Light Up the First Capitol Festival and Parade
Always held the first weekend in December, this event includes a Downtown Parade showcasing local talent and organizations, The Giving Tree Project, Fun Run, Kid’s Midway, Headliner Talent Concert in the Park, local talent and organizations performing, BBQ Cook-off and Trade Days are both open on Saturday and Sunday. 

Candlelight Christmas at Varner Hogg Plantation
Take an evening stroll through the grounds of Varner-Hogg to experience 100 years of Christmas from the early days of pioneers in the 1820s to the oil boom years of the 1920s
