Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg Hours and Prices

Oktoberfest in Fredericksburg has been going strong since the 1980s. You don't last nearly 50 years unless your festival delivers the goods. And boy, does Fredericksburg's Oktoberfest deliver the goods. Every first weekend in October, the festival livens up Market Square and historic downtown Fredericksburg with live German music, an entire area for kids' activities, more sausage on a stick than you can shake a stick at, and, of course, beer. Lots and lots of beer.

Throughout its three days, there will be five stages hosting live music from authentic oompah bands, polka troupes, and tuba players. The food runs from classic bratwurst to such ingenious creations as German Tacos and German Burgers with Kraut. Dozens of beers will be on tap from local Texas breweries like St. Arnold and Altstadt. If you really love coming in first place, there's a contest for nearly everything: waltzing, polka, dominoes, and fashion, among others. Kids' activities include face painting, games, and even a miniature Hi-Striker competition (you know, the game where you swing the hammer as hard as you can).
