This three-day event, held in early April, includes art demonstrations and plenty of live music as well.

Texas Wild Rice Festival
The Texas Wild Rice Festival is an educational event meant to inform the people of Central Texas about the complex ecosystem of the San Marcos River. A wide variety of fun events are part of this one day festival, including interactive workshops, river hikes, live music, and arts and crafts. The one-day festival takes place in Sewell Park on the campus of Texas State University.

Swing on the Square
Put on your dancing shoes and come on down to downtown San Marcos for the Swing on the Square, a Western Swing Heritage festival. Live music on four stages, a street dance, farmers and arts markets, historic tours, and activities for the kids make up this two-day mid-May event. The festival wraps up with an old-fashioned Texas-style barbecue dinner.

Summerfest
Hours of live music, tasty food, a fun parade, and a sensational fireworks show makes up Summerfest, San Marcos’ Fourth of July Celebration. All the action takes place at the San Marcos Plaza Park, where you can lay down a picnic blanket or rent an inner tube and float on the San Marcos River, two great ways to take it all in.

Wine & Wassail Walk
Kick off the holiday season in style with an evening full of delectable wine and great live music at the Wine & Wassail Walk in San Marcos. Tour the many unique shops within San Marcos’ historic downtown square, where you’ll find wines and wassails to savor and hors d’oeuvres to enjoy.
