Things To Do in Early

When you need a relaxing getaway, head to the center of Texas. It’s here you’ll encounter the friendly town of Early, an inviting place far away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. Relax and unwind as you swim or kayak on a sprawling picturesque lake, sip award-winning wine, and explore peaceful nature trails. There’s no shortage of things to do in Early, so read on to see all the possibilities before planning your visit.

Visit the Tasting Room at Spirit of Texas Winery

Drive out to Spirit of Texas Winery in Early to enjoy a beautiful sunset, live music, a friendly atmosphere, and delicious Texas wine. Taste critically acclaimed reds and whites like the Rip Roaring Red (a blend of syrah, mourvedre, grenache, and sangiovese), and a dry rosé. These wines are made from premium grapes grown right here in Texas, either from the Hill Country or the High Plains.

Make your choice of wine and pair it with a cheese and charcuterie board, both of which you’ll enjoy in the winery’s rustic tasting room. When the weather is at its best outside, step out onto the patio to play games and listen to local musicians.

There’s always something exciting going on here, from yoga classes and painting parties to fireside s’mores and potluck gatherings. Check out all the winery’s upcoming events here.

Go Hunting in Central Texas

Autumn means something different to everyone, but if this time of year conjures images of deer, doves, hogs, and turkeys, you’re probably a hunter. Early’s location in Central Texas makes it prime grounds for hunting leases and guided hunts that attract folks from far and wide. You’ll find the hunting season dates in the county for white-tailed deer, turkey, quail, dove, and other species on the Texas Parks & Wildlife Department website, and you can contact Visit Early Texas for help with finding a lease or guided hunt that fits your budget.

Book a Relaxing Getaway at The Hideout Golf Club & Resort

The pace of life in Early is a bit slower, making it a rejuvenating destination for a relaxing getaway. The Hideout Golf Club & Resort surrounds Lake Brownwood and offers a lakefront resort experience and championship golf. Breathe in fresh air as you make your way through the lush 18 holes designed by professional golfer Bill Johnston or soak up the sun by the resort-style pool. Explore peaceful nature trails, enjoy the view from a paddle boat, or hook a fish in the pond. When you’re not taking advantage of the resort’s amenities, relax in your choice of accommodations that range from a room in the lodge or your very own two-bedroom ranch house. You can even book a campsite, if sleeping under the stars is more to your liking. No matter what time of day it is, get your fill at the Hideout Grill. Open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, you’ll find something delicious to dig into here.

While the Hideout Golf Club & Resort has plenty to offer, it’s not the only place you can stay in Early. See your other options here.
